About Us

Message from the Founder

I thankfully secured a five year scholarship from the Catholic Diocese of Makeni and travelled to Italy in 1993.Whilst in Italy, I founded the Little Steps NGO in 2000. During this period, there was a serious and bloody civil war in my country, Sierra Leone. The war started in 1992, it placed the entire country in a state of confusion and panic.
Though I was not personally and or physically affected by the war, emotionally I was as I had left my family, friends, and my community in Koinadugu District. I continually carried the terrible emotions of the war. This then became a motivation for me, not only to study and obtain my Master’s degree in Sociology of Development but also to think of how best I could help my people, friends and my community once the war ended.

Our Core Values

Our Objectives

The objectives of this mission are:

to contribute strategic leadership for the active participation of minority and marginalised groups in the development of Koinadugu, Falaba and their environs;
to foster community cohesion and equality through health, education, culture and collaboration;
to identify opportunities for individuals and groups to engage in innovative and sustainable activities that secure livelihoods and foster local economic growth;
to support education, training and enterprise development initiatives that promote the economic self-reliance of individuals and their communities as well as environmental sustainability; and
to collaborate with local and international stakeholders and partners to address the critical issues impacting on the development of communities in the Koinadugu and Falaba regions.

Educcation

We support access to quality education by building schools, providing learning materials, and empowering children and youth with opportunities to learn and grow.

We improve community health through medical outreach, support to health facilities, maternal and child care, and lifesaving interventions for vulnerable populations.

We expand access to clean water and proper sanitation by constructing wells, improving WASH facilities, and promoting hygiene practices in rural communities.
